About TeaLeav.es

Dana Hunter TeaLeav.es is the online home of me, Dana Hunter.  I have a diverse array of experience in all facets of Internet marketing, and I drink several pots of excellent tea a day.  In addition to my independent online marketing services, I’m also a graduate student in the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University, studying theoretical linguistics, chiefly syntax with other strong interests in German linguistics, morphology, and the syntax-semantics and syntax-morphology interfaces.

Why do SEO while I’m still in school? It helps me stay up to date on how computers and search engines interact with online content and better understand what people are doing when they’re online.  Computers and human language is an important field in linguistics; search engines and computer companies hire linguists to help them better model human language and translate that into the codes and algorithms that index and try to understand online content.  Doing work that involves search engines is a way to see how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go, in creating computers that can truly understand human language.

Why a tea blog? I drink a lot of tea, and I’ve found that the act of brewing a good pot is a relaxing moment in my day when I can take some time to slow down and savor something truly delicious.  My friends were the first to suggest I start a blog about tea, providing information and reviews, and I realized it would be a good opportunity for me to expand my own knowledge of these tiny, dried leaves and give me an outlet for sharing all this information.

If for some unusual reason you don’t want to read about tea on my blog, there’s also lots of information about search engine optimization, websites, and the latest in the online universe to keep you up to date as well.
